This year we have redesigned our Personal Development curriculum to make it broader and more ambitious than ever before.
In the past, Personal Development has been delivered through assemblies and other events throughout the year under the old title of PHSE (personal, health and social education). However, we recognised that this was not enough to educate young people and equip them with the tools they needed to navigate our rapidly changing world and confront the challenges facing young people within our present day local community.
In addition, we wanted students to receive a rich and diverse education that takes them beyond the boundaries of their everyday experiences so they can leave school as young adults with maturity and confidence.
We wanted this knowledge to be remembered, not merely encountered and so in order to do this, we have radically redesigned and overhauled the Personal Development curriculum and thought hard about what we want students to know, think and be able to do by the time their journey at the academy is over.
