Grand Opening of Harris Academy Ockendon

Harris Academy Ockendon was officially opened by Lady Harris of Peckham on Wednesday 6th November.  Special guests also included Lord Harris of Peckham, Jackie Doyle Price, Thurrock’s local MP and Sir Moynihan, CEO of the Harris Federation.

This event was a very significant occasion for staff and students. The occasion recognised the collaboration of individuals and organisations which made the opening of Harris Academy Ockendon possible, but most importantly, it marked the start of an exciting journey for the community of South Ockendon and the students currently at the academy.

We are incredibly proud of our student performers who opened the ceremony, delighting our guests with their talent. They exhibited maturity and professionalism in the presence of our special guests and were also honoured to personally meet with Lord Harris.

Staff, students and their parents are thrilled to join the Harris family of schools and in the short time the academy has been open, they have an infectious pride. The Harris Federation is unrivalled and has deeply rooted aspirations for all young people.

I am proud and privileged to be Principal and look forward to sharing the achievements of our students over the coming months and years. Joining the Harris Federation was a hugely positive step forward for our academy. Our official opening was a chance for our whole academy community to celebrate our next exciting chapter.

Thank you to all our guests who attended and made it a day to remember.

Ms Rainey, Principal
