How to Report an Absence

At Harris Academy Ockendon, we place a strong emphasis on excellent attendance, as we know that being in school regularly is key to both academic success and personal development.

However, we also understand that there are times when students may be unwell or unable to attend due to other legitimate reasons.

If your child is going to be absent, please contact the school reception as early as possible on the first day of absence, either by phone on 01708 851661 or by email at info@harrisockendon.org.uk. This ensures that we can record the absence appropriately and maintain accurate attendance records.

When reporting an absence, please include:

• Your child’s full name and year group
• The reason for the absence
• The expected duration of the absence, if known

If your child is unwell, please provide brief details about the nature of their illness so we can monitor for any patterns and support them appropriately during their return.
