Economics *
Economics is a social science that seeks to analyse and describe the production, distribution, and consumption of wealth.
In the 19th century economics was the hobby of gentlemen of leisure and the vocation of a few academics; economists wrote about economic policy but were rarely consulted by legislators before decisions were made.
Today there is hardly a government, international agency, or large commercial bank that does not have its own staff of economists.
By the end of the A level Economics course, students will have a greater understanding of government policy and strategy and why they make the decisions they do. Furthermore, students will have an array of knowledge built up on global trade, poverty, competition, employment, fiscal/monetary policy. Additionally, students will learn and take a closer look at how our banking system helps the economy and of course supply and demand and how if affects consumers producers and governments.
