Religious Studies is the investigation of human, faith and social development through time.
It allows us as humans to examine, deliberate and articulate why things are the way they are, how they got to this state and why they have changed over periods of time. To explore and explain the how and why students will us history, anthropology and society.
Religious Studies equips students with the knowledge, wisdom and passion needed to educate the mind and heart. This enables them to understand meaning and use the knowledge they have cultivated to have tolerance, acceptance, empathy, meaningful debates and appreciate the wisdom of philosophy, beauty of art, ethics and religion. This will enable students to have the skills to face adversities and challenges through education and in later life.
Students will study a range of topics from exploring the Western world in which we live in too religious historical challenges that people faced. Teaching them how to be safe in the current world in respect of relationships and also how to safe and secure within themselves and their own identity They will work together to understand what makes people good and what brings the most happiness to humans. Students will explore the main religions including Christianity, Buddhism, Islam and Sikhism while also trying to answer the big questions in life such as who created this world? Why is there suffering? How did we get here?
Our curriculum educates both the heart and the mind, and will enable students to navigate through, academically challenge, flourish in, and enjoy the world that they will enter after education.
