Enrichment Offers 2026
It’s that time of year where our students get to choose their enrichment options for the upcoming academic year. Enrichment is always a very successful part of the school calendar, with students regularly commenting on it being their favourite time of the week and many parents reflecting on the positive impact it had on their children. Whether your child is a new or returning student to HAOC, please read the useful information below for everything you need to know about enrichment.
What is enrichment?
Enrichment is an opportunity for students to experience and learn in other areas of academia and leisure that they might not have had the chance to experience before. Students get to take responsibility for their learning by choosing their own lesson from the catalogue of options provided by their teachers, by thinking carefully about their own interests and what they might want to do in the future. This gives students the opportunity to expand their social circles and find common interests with students and teachers they might not normally interact with.
When is enrichment?
Enrichment lessons are part of the regular school timetable and are not a before/after school club. For each year group they take place during period 5, school will finish at the normal time of 3.30pm. Enrichment takes place on the following days:
Year 7: Wednesday
Year 8 Tovey, Tudor, Wallace, Whitlock: Wednesday
Year 8 Cook, Newton, Pullen, Strike: Friday
Year 9: Friday
Enrichment lessons will start week commencing 21st September. Students will receive their updated timetables before their first session. Prior to this, students will need to make their choices, guidance for which is provided below.
How often will students change enrichment?
Students will make 4 choices, in order of preference, from the enrichment catalogue. Please click the relevant link below:
Wednesday Enrichment Catalogue
From these options, students will receive 2 of them over the course of the school year. Each enrichment will last for 1 term, approximately 10 lessons, after which they will receive another one of their choices.
It is important to note that students might not necessarily receive their first choice in the first term. This is because some enrichments prove to be extremely popular, and it won’t always be possible to provide students with their first choice immediately.
All students will be given enrichments they have chosen, so it is important they read the enrichment catalogue carefully to understand what they are choosing. It will unfortunately not be possible to swap enrichments. If students are unsure after reading the catalogue, then they should reach out to the lead teacher for more information so they can make an informed decision.
How does my child choose their enrichment?
At this point you should have gone through the appropriate catalogue with your child and picked out the 4 enrichments they would like to take part in. Once you have done this, please use the relevant survey below to complete their choices, no later than Wednesday 16th September.
